The Journey Begins Today

Today, I leave home.

It is September 6, 2026.

I don’t know exactly what I will find on this journey.
But perhaps that is what makes traveling so special.

My first destination is Aomori.

Far in the north, I will visit Osorezan, a mysterious place surrounded by mountains and silence.
I wonder what I will feel when I stand there.

Maybe the wind will be cold.
Maybe the mountains will seem to be whispering something from the past.

After Aomori, my journey will continue to Kiyosato.

Kiyosato is a very different place.
Green mountains, quiet roads, and memories from long ago are waiting for me there.

I will walk slowly.

I don’t need to hurry.

Sometimes, when we return to a place after many years, we don’t simply see the place again.

We see our own past.

And then, there is another journey waiting for me.

I will chase the East i.

From station to station, I will follow the shining yellow-and-white train as it travels across the Tohoku Shinkansen line.

I may see it at Oyama.

Then perhaps Sendai.

Maybe I will have to run across a platform, catch another train, and wait patiently for the next opportunity.

I don’t know how many times I will see it.

But that’s okay.

A journey doesn’t have to go exactly according to plan.

Sometimes the unexpected moments become the best memories.

Today, I close the door of my home and begin walking toward the station.

My camera is ready.

My tickets are ready.

And my heart is ready.

Aomori is waiting.

Osorezan is waiting.

Kiyosato is waiting.

And somewhere on the railway, the East i is waiting too.

The journey begins today.

I don’t know where this journey will take me.

But I know one thing.

When I finally return home,
I will have another story to tell.
