Today’s English Story

Every morning, Tom walked to the small train station near his house. It wasn’t a big station, and only a few trains stopped there. Still, Tom liked the quiet sound of footsteps and the distant announcement echoing under the roof.

One cold winter morning, Tom noticed an old man sitting on a wooden bench. The man was holding a small notebook and smiling as if he were remembering something pleasant. Curious, Tom sat down next to him.

“Good morning,” Tom said. The old man looked up and nodded. “Good morning. Do you take this train every day?” he asked.

Tom answered, “Yes, almost every day. I go to work in the city, but I like this quiet station. It helps me think.”

The old man laughed softly. “I used to come here every day too,” he said. “Not for work, but to meet someone special.”

Tom didn’t ask more, but the old man continued. “Time passes quickly. People leave, seasons change, but places like this keep memories alive.”

Just then, the train arrived. The old man slowly stood up and closed his notebook. “Thank you for listening,” he said. “Talking to someone makes memories feel warmer.”

As Tom boarded the train, he looked back at the bench. The old man was already gone. But the quiet station felt different somehow—full of unseen stories.

From that day on, Tom listened more carefully to sounds around him, wondering how many memories were hidden in ordinary places.
